享有全球「不朽傳奇」之美譽、全台歌迷期待近半個世紀，訪華演唱傳聞數十年不斷的美國歌手唐麥克林Don McLean將在五月六日於台大體育館、舉辦首場來台售票演唱會～「不朽傳奇The Legendary Don McLean Live in Taipei 2008」。
我第一次聽到他唱的Starry, starry night時，就愛上他的歌聲了。我的手機鈴聲就是這首歌。
因為兒子的英文名字是Vincent，當我知道梵谷也是Vincent時，我就愛上了梵谷的畫，接著愛上了他的星空。
Vincent Van Gogh(梵谷)為後期印象派三大名家之一。他的遺言是：「痛苦即是人生」。他滿腔的情渴望著愛，然而卻遭逢連串失戀；他有狂熱的宗教熱誠，卻被傳教委員會人士所摒棄；他努力臨摹學畫，跟許多大畫家來往，渴望能建立畫家的樂園，然而他的火烈性格及對藝術的看法，使得他的畫友無法與他共處。他的亢奮、神經質、過勞、焦慮導致一連串狂肆的行為，近乎自虐，自求毀滅以求超越的行為，極端怪誕；他生前窮病潦倒，端賴弟弟特奧支助，始得茍活。他平生只賣出一張畫。
Don McLean為梵谷的畫所深深感動，寫下這首歌。曲中對於星夜等幾幅畫有文字的描述，同時也感嘆梵谷的藝術不為當時社會所賞識，以及其窮苦潦倒、英年早逝的生活。曲末道出：Perhaps they never will，懷疑現代社會真的能夠了解梵谷畫中所欲傳達的訊息。
